Knee Chairs

Improve your posture, release pressure on your back and gain core strength with an ergonomic knee chair.

Welcome to the KneeChairs.org, your virtual A-Z for ergonomic kneeling chairs and knee/sit chairs. We have made it our mission to review and research the top models of knee chairs available today and deliver the goods to you so you can make an informed decision. Kneeling chairs are not all made equal and some will wear quicker than others, so you will want to keep reading and gather as much info as you can before you buy. Once you find the right model of knee chair for your lifestyle, you will enjoy the improved comfort and posture while sitting for extended periods.

If you work at a desk all day long, or even for periods of an hour or more, then you know that being comfortable is extrememly important. Sitting for hours on end affects one's posture and circulation. Knee chairs encourage proper spinal alignment and engage your core while you sit. Adding a knee chair to your office or home study can be an excellent investment if you decide the knee chair is the right setup for you.

It should be noted at this point that sitting in general is not particularly good for the body, and it is recommended that you get up and walk around, change positions and move your legs as much and as often as possible. Being sedentary for such long periods isn't natural on an evolutionary scale (for those of us that believe in evolution!) and the body doesn't generally respond well to sitting for too long.

Knee chairs are configured to lower the angle of the lower body (about 60 degrees) and straighten out the spine to 90 degrees. proper use of a knee chair should include periodically taking out one's leg and straightening it from time to time in order to relieve stress on the bent knees. One common misconception is that weight rests on the knees, causing increased pressure, when in fact most of the weight is still supported by the buttocks.

As with any piece of furniture, your new knee chair need to match your personal style and your interior decor of your office or home. You're in luck! There are enough decent styles to choose from that you will surely find something to go with your existing space and furniture pieces. Modern Italian design, country home, minimalist, zen-inspired, or just regular corporate office design, there are knee chairs that will fit the bill perfectly.

Sitting for long hours at a desk is hard on the body, and it is our responsibility to look after ourselves and ensure that we are making the best of a less than ideal situation. The modern knee chair allows for better posture, which reduces stress on the hips and improves spinal alignment.

Remeber a few important points as you browse: First, be conscious of whether or not each knee chair has a mechanism to adjust the height - some don't. Second, carefully consider the quality of the padding used. Finally, decide if you need casters or are fine with a non-rolling knee chair.
